Kaizer Chiefs | Daniel Cardoso’s incredible league streak ends
Kaizer Chiefs’ DStv Premiership match against SuperSport United on Saturday, 20 February saw an impressive streak come to an end.

The match at the FNB Stadium ended in a 1-1 draw after Amakhosi took the lead in the 29th minute through Reeve Frosler, only for that man Bradley Grobler to once again haunt Kaizer Chiefs with a 67th minute penalty.
The result left Kaizer Chiefs in ninth place in the standings with 19 points from 17 matches, while SuperSport United remained in second place on 32 points from the same number of fixtures.

The match also saw the end of an impressive streak of consecutive appearances from Amakhosi’s 32-year-old defender, Daniel Cardoso.
The match against Matsatsantsa was the first time since Kaizer Chiefs’ final match of the 2018/19 season against Chippa United on 11 May 2019 that Daniel Cardoso did not start a league game for Amakhosi.
That meant that Daniel Cardoso had started Kaizer Chiefs’ last 46 league matches.

That’s basically the entire 2019/20 season (30 matches) plus the opening 16 matches of this 2020/21 season.
Kaizer Chiefs will next be in action in the CAF Champions League against Hoyora from Guinea on Tuesday, February 23.
