JUST IN: Motjeka Madisha death remains unconfirmed!

Despite passing on over 25 days ago, the body of Mamelodi Sundowns defender Motjeka Madisha is yet to be officially identified.

The 25-year-old Mamelodi Sundowns defender from Ga-Madisha village in Zebediela‚ passed on when the vehicle Motjeka Madisha was allegedly travelling in crashed into a steel pole in wet conditions and burst into flames near Kempton Park on 12 December 2020.

The Madisha household have since confirmed that they’re yet to receive the DNA results from the incident which occurred last month leaving them with hope that Motjeka Madisha may still be alive.

Motjeka Madisha DNA results still unconfirmed

A family spokesperson from the Madisha household confirmed that the DNA results of the occupants in the vehicle were still outstanding and were due to be released today (05 January 2021).

“We haven’t yet received the DNA results. The Acting Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi promised to give us an update tomorrow and we are hoping that by end of business tomorrow, we as the family can get closure.” Fani Tsela, a spokesperson for the Motjeka Madisha household told SAFM.

“This has been strenuous, its actually been very traumatic, especially for my uncle and Motjeka Madisha’s mother. Eish, its been very tough for her. Our hopes are now with Acting Premier Lesufi who promised that we’ll have results by the 5th of January and get some closure and finalisation.

“At the moment, there is nothing we can do as a family, until such a time that we are sure the DNA result is a positive identification. But right now, we are clinging to hope that the DNA result says it’s not Motjeka Madisha. Yes, obviously we still have hope.

“We do suspect that the delay is being caused by the process itself.We are told DNA results can even take 3 months. That’s because all DNA tests are conducted in PTA and there is only one government lab that deals with these things. Even the investigative officer is frustrated.”
