Watch | Gauteng floods: Centurion ‘underwater’ yet again on Tuesday

At this point, we’re wondering if a giant umbrella needs to be positioned over Centurion so we can avoid scenes like these. The Gauteng city has once again fallen victim to flooding, with several regions currently submerged underwater.

Gauteng floods: A familiar story for the province…

The City of Tshwane has already advised motorists to avoid ‘low lying bridges’. The Hennops River is currently overflowing, and several road structures have been compromised by the adverse conditions. Meanwhile, the chaotic weather has also disrupted bus services in the city centre, Techno Park, and Rooihuiskraal.

Major crossroads and intersections have been flooded, leaving motorists to face a traffic nightmare before Christmas. Some of the alternative routes suggested by road traffic authorities have also been hit by the deluge. In video footage posted online earlier today, the extent of the damage could be seen in full:

Locals of this Gauteng hub are beyond frustrated. Centurion often bears the brunt of heavy rain in the province, with floods becoming more commonplace over the past few years.
