Elder Scrolls Online: Gates of Oblivion announced at Game Awards
Bethesda Softworks announced the next Elder Scrolls Online expansion as a world premiere at the 2020 Game Awards, titled Gates of Oblivion.
While it’s not Elder Scrolls 6, the game we’ve been waiting for since forever, this is better than nothing. Following the announcement, PlayStation said on Twitter:
“The Gates of Oblivion await, watch the new Elder Scrolls Online teaser, just revealed at the Game Awards.”

We don’t want to get ahead of ourselves here, but it looks like Mehrunes Dagon is back up to his old tricks. The teaser seems to also highlight a trip to the hellish realm of Oblivion.
We don’t have a release date just yet, but more will be revealed at the Global Reveal Event on 21 January 2021.
This is developing story, we will share more as soon as the additional updates are released. Find more Game Awards 2020 updates here.

Elder Scrolls Online expansions
As Venture Beat so succinctly summed it up: Oblivion is the fantasy world Tamriel’s equivalent of hell. It’s also the name of the fourth game in the franchise, 2006’s The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. The Elder Scrolls: Blades.
Elder Scrolls Online first debuted six years ago. The Markarth release went live back in November, just before the launch of the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PS5.
“We’re excited to let you know that in order to get ahead of the new next-gen console launches next week, we’re shifting the console launch of Markarth and Update 28 forward one day. Maintenance will now be on Monday, November 9. We can’t wait to have you explore the Reach!”
Update 28 is quite extensive and covers off the base game and its subsequent chapters. It comes with a ton of bug fixes as well. The most pressing being Lady Belain’s portals during the quest “A Feast of Souls”.
