Kaizer Chiefs confirm details of Cameroon CAF Champions League trip

Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed details regarding their upcoming home and away CAF Champions League fixtures against Cameroonian side PWD Bamenda.

AMAKHOSI WILL PLAY PWD BAMENDA AWAY THEN AT HOME

Amakhosi are preparing to make a return to continental club competition after a four-year absence on the back of their runner-up finish to Mamelodi Sundowns in the 2019/20 PSL title race.

Amakhosi have been drawn against Cameroon’s Elite One Championship winners Bamenda in the preliminary round, which will see them play home and away ties for a spot in the first round.

Chiefs will be on the road for the first leg which will take place in Limbe at the Limbe Omnisports Stadium on Sunday, November 29 at 16:00 (SA time GMT +2).

Limbe is a seaside town in western Cameroon and is well known for its black sand beaches.

The return leg is expected to be played the following weekend, although a date, venue and kick-off time is yet to be confirmed.

At this stage Durban appears to be the likely host city.

“The first game takes place on Sunday, 29 November at the Limbe Omnisports Stadium in Limbe, with kick-off at 16:00 (SA Time),” a statement on Chiefs’ website confirmed.

“Chiefs will then host the Cameroonian’s in the return leg. The date, venue and kick-off time will be confirmed soon.”

Should Gavin Hunt’s struggling charges get past Bamenda, they will face Angolan giants Primero de Agosto for a place in the group stages – a feat the club have never before achieved on the continent.
