UIF Ters applications: Here’s the closing date for July to September

The Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) has announced a closing date for July to September Ters applications. If you haven’t yet applied for payment, the clock is ticking.

UIF TERS: CLOSING DATE SET FOR APPLICATIONS

On Tuesday 20 October 2020, the UIF announced that the closing date for July to September Ters applications is just 10 days away. It issued out a reminder to all applicants saying;

“COVID-19 Ters benefit applications for July to 15 September 2020 shall close 30 October 2020 and no further applications for that period shall be accepted beyond that date”.

The UIF also said that applications for June 2020 had closed five days ago on 15 October. It also said applications for March 2020 to May 2020 closed on 25 September 2020.

“The closing dates will not affect claims that have already been submitted,” it added.

 WILL PAYMENTS BE EXTENDED?

Last week, a local publisher released an article saying that the UIF Ters benefit would be extended until 15 November. Employment and Labour Minister Thulas Nxesi immediately released a statement blasting the publisher for fake news.

The article stated; “The Minister of Employment and Labour has announced the extension of the COVID-19 Temporary Employer-Employee Relief Scheme (TERS)” until 15 November 2020.

“No statement has been made by me or my Department on this matter. Any decision on an extension would be made only after extensive engagement with government, Nedlac and the UIF itself. I remain concerned at the publication of this false report and I hope that it will be immediately corrected,” he said.
