WOMAN STABBED MULTIPLE TIMES IN ORANGE FARM
Brigadier Mathapelo Peters said preliminary evidence suggests that the woman was stabbed multiple times with a weapon that was found not too far from the murder scene.
“The circumstances surrounding the murder are under investigation, with the motive yet to be determined,” said Peters.
“The investigation is being prioritised in line with the SAPS commitment to prioritise the investigations of gender-based violence and femicide,” added Peters.
TWO CHILDREN MURDERED IN SEPARATE INCIDENT
Orange Farm has become the scene of multiple murders in recent months. On Saturday 19 September — about a month ago — two young children aged six and eight were found murdered.
The two children, who were family friends, were reported missing by the mother of the six-year-old boy.
“Police launched an immediate search for the two children who, according to the complainant, were last seen on Friday evening at around 19:00 when they were allegedly walking home from a hair salon,” said Peters.
At around 5:00 officers received a report of a child’s body lying in the street and, shortly thereafter, a passer-by discovered the second body close by.
“The investigation on Friday 25 September 2020 led police to Soweto where the woman was found and arrested on suspicion of being involved in the murder of the boy and the girl,” Peters added.
Police also confirmed that the woman had been involved in the murder of another child, aged seven. The body of a boy was found in her house in April.

“Today 18 June 2020 at about 6:00 a passerby person was collecting plastic waste when he noticed [the] body of a three-year-old girl in a plastic bin. He called the police,” said Captain Kay Makhubela.
