Like father, like son: Duduzane Zuma ‘to pursue political career’

Duduzane Zuma has hinted that he could follow in his father’s footsteps, and enter into politics once he’s back in South Africa. The son of former president Jacob Zuma says that he will go ‘wherever he is needed’ should he choose to plot a path through government – and a ‘big announcement’ is, apparently, coming soon.

His close relationship with the Gupta family and obvious family ties have made Duduzane Zuma something of a controversial figure. He’s appeared in multiple court trials and was even grilled by the State Capture Inquiry last year. However, it seems that the Dubai resident feels he will be popular enough to make a dent in SA’s political landscape.

During an interview on Trending SA, Zuma Jnr explained that he moved out of the country because his ‘constitutional rights’ were being infringed. He believes that ‘everyone has a role to play in politics’ – and weighed in on other contentious issues:

Duduzane Zuma on his political ambitions:

“People don’t understand the reason I moved out of SA – and this is why I have spoken about my constitutional rights being trampled upon. People have their views but I have faced the music. I have been in front of one judge, in front of an inquiry. However, I will be travelling back very soon, and I have a big announcement to make when I return to South Africa.”

“I think everyone should have some role in politics, and wherever I am needed, I am there. We all have our opinions. We all have our views that have been shaped by our environment and we all want to make a difference. For me, any interests in politics is definitely a yes.”
