Revisit your childhood with this Classic Fudge Recipe

Fudge is an inexpensive way to spoil yourself and your family. With just a can of condensed milk and a few simple ingredients, you can recreate this childhood favourite in a flash.

    A mouthwatering fudge recipe to satisfy your sweet cravings.

    Ingredients

    • 2 cups sugar

    • 5 tablespoons water

    • 4 teaspoons golden syrup

    • 1 can condensed milk

    • 4 tablespoons butter

    • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence

    Method

    • Add the sugar and water to a large pot and stir over low heat until the sugar has dissolved.
    • Stir in the syrup and butter until combined and add condensed milk, continuously stirring until the mixture comes to a boil.
    • Boil over low heat until the mixture comes to the soft-ball stage. You can determine this by adding a small spoonful of the mixture to a glass of cold water. When the mixture forms a firm but soft ball that can be squeezed flat when taken out you have the correct consistency. Alternatively, you can use a food thermometer in the pot and the temperature should be between 112°C and 116°C.
    • Remove the pot from the heat and whisk in the vanilla essence until the mixture thickens.
    • Pour into a greased baking tray and allow to cool and set.
    • Slice into 20 equal portions once the fudge has set.
