Cape Town’s iconic Mariner’s Wharf to partially re-open under level three
As we start a new month and level three is implemented across the country, Mariner’s Wharf, the popular fish and chips bistro has announced that it will be partially re-opening.
In an official statement on Facebook, Mariner’s Wharf shared the exciting news.
“On the eve of level three of lockdown we are thrilled to announce the partial re-opening of Mariner’s Wharf. Our liquor store is opening on 1 June 2020, and our bistro takeaways, fish market (for pre-packs and all priced items) and bakery will open on 2 June 2020.”
What does the partial re-opening of Mariner’s Wharf mean?
Locals will be able to grab their favourite fish and chips, an item from the liquor store, fresh fish and seafood or freshly baked bread from the onsite bakery.
This statement comes after South Africa’s first harbour front emporium, Mariner’s Wharf announced that they were closing indefinitely on 1 May 2020 and until the local economy recovered.
Located in Hout Bay, Mariner’s Wharf has become a staple for many Capetonians offering a number of unique seafood options and seaside views to match.
As a popular tourist destination, Mariners Wharf was uncertain of its future.
Capetonians reeled at this heartbreaking news as it seemed to be the end of an era but with the latest news, as a phoenix rises from the ashes, Mariner’s Wharf will rebuild with the help of support from locals.
Opening times
Mariner’s Wharf has indicated that the bistro will be open from 11am to 6pm from Monday to Sunday and the fish market will be open from 10am to 5pm from Sunday to Thursday. The bakery will only be open from 2 June 2020.
The liquor store will be open from 9am to 5pm from Monday to Thursday as per government regulations.
The bistro is running a promotion for its opening and is encouraging locals to support local business.
“To make this occasion even sweeter, if you spend R100 or more in the bistro or liquor store you will get a 15% discount in the fishmarket (until further notice) when presenting your bistro or liquor store receipt,” said Mariner’s Wharf in an official statement.
