COVID-19: Former ANC chairperson Marius Fransman tests positive
Former African National Congress (ANC) Western Cape chairperson Marius Fransman has tested positive for COVID-19. Fransman made the announcement in a Facebook post on Tuesday 31 March.
He urged all South Africans to get themselves tested if they show symptoms and to adhere to the lockdown regulations.
On Tuesday afternoon Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said five people have died of COVID-19 in South Africa and the number of COVID-19 cases had risen to 1 353.

Fransman took to Facebook, saying that since his return from abroad two weeks ago, he didn’t feel well. This then prompted him to take a test last Monday.
“After a week of waiting for my results, it is now confirmed I tested positive for the coronavirus, I am currently hospitalised but doing fine, my family is being taken care of and will undergo relevant tests, so have I advised those that came into contact with me the last month,” he said.
Fransman said he is doing well under the circumstances and would like to appeal to South Africans to take the proper precautionary measures.
“I am doing well under the circumstances, and want to appeal to everyone to get themselves tested if you show symptoms and let’s all start practising good hygiene, adhere to the lockdown regulations, and all join in the call to flatten the curve.”
