English Premier League title challengers Liverpool have the chance to strike first in their bid to topple reigning champions Manchester City at the top of the table this weekend.
The Reds host bottom club Watford in the Saturday lunchtime EPL kick off, giving them the chance to restore an 11-point lead at the summit ahead of the rest of the weekend’s action.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are in serious danger of running away with the title before the halfway point of the season.
A 3-0 cakewalk away to Bournemouth last weekend was their seventh victory on the spin, while Watford at least stopped a run of three successive defeats with a goalless draw at home to Crystal Palace.
Second-placed Leicester are Liverpool’s closest pursuers and will put their perfect form to the test on Saturday at home to lowly Norwich.
The Foxes have won eight in a row as they welcome the 19th-placed Canaries to the King Power Stadium.
Manchester City slipped up in their derby clash with neighbours United at the Etihad Stadium last Saturday, falling 14 points behind Liverpool before a ball is kicked this weekend.
Pep Guardiola can barely afford another hitch as his side make the tricky trip to Arsenal on Sunday.
The Gunners stopped their personal rot with a 3-1 win at West Ham on Monday night – a result that nevertheless leaves them ninth in the table.
Manchester United take their improving form into a clash with Everton at Old Trafford on Sunday.
A derby win was the perfect boost for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his team, who have hauled themselves back up to fifth in the EPL table.
Duncan Ferguson tasted success in his first outing as temporary Toffees boss last weekend, when his charges stunned Chelsea at Goodison Park to ease relegation fears on Merseyside.
It means Chelsea have lost three of their last four as they host bang-out-of-form Bournemouth.
The pair meet on Saturday at Stamford Bridge with the Blues fourth in the standings and the Cherries 15th, not to mention descending at terminal velocity.
Back at the right end of the table there’s a showdown between Wolves and Tottenham at Molineux.
Jose Mourinho’s Spurs are much improved and gave Burnley a five-goal shoeing last time out, while Wolves earned a hard-fought draw at Brighton to stay a point and a place ahead of their visitors in sixth.
Crystal Palace and Brighton must wait until Monday night to resume their rivalry and polish off the Premier League weekend at Selhurst Park.
Elsewhere on Saturday there’s a crunch clash to be had in the late kick off when West Ham go to Southampton.
Both are in serious drop danger with a point separating them either side of the dreaded dotted line.
Promoted pair Sheffield United and Aston Villa meet off the back of contrasting starts to their respective top flight returns, with the Blades flying high in eighth and the Villans hovering in 17th.
Burnley and Newcastle, meanwhile, face off at Turf Moor with both in the sunny uplands of midtable, despite the Clarets losing their last three.
