Light aircraft carrying two passengers crashes near Springs Airfield
Reports have surfaced that a light aircraft crashed near the Springs Airfield, on Monday morning.
Observing the severity of the crash, the official, according to Ntladi, noticed that there were two injured passengers on the light aircraft.
At this time, the cause of the crash has not been revealed. CAA will have to rely on the light aircraft’s black box (if it had one) and, more importantly, the accounts of the surviving passengers.
What is the condition of the passengers?
The light aircraft, believed to be carrying two passengers, crashed on the corner of Olympia and Moepel roads in Springs, east of Ekurhuleni, at around 06:45, according to a Springs Advertiser report.William Ntladi, from Disaster and Emergency Management Services, revealed that the accident was reported by one of their EMS officials who had driven past the crash, on his way to work.#PlaneCrash A light airplane crashed a short while ago in Joubert Street, Springs. Observing the severity of the crash, the official, according to Ntladi, noticed that there were two injured passengers on the light aircraft.
“Springs and Brakpan fire stations responded together to intervene and, upon arrival, we found that the pilot and the assistant, who is alleged to be a student pilot, were still inside the wreck.The passengers, believed to be in a critical condition, have since been transported to N17 Hospital, 6.7km away.
“Our members had to do medical interventions on scene and fortunately they both survived with serious injuries,” Ntladi explained.

What caused the light aircraft crash?
Ntladi confirmed that the light aircraft crash did not cause damage to any vehicle or private property near the Springs Airfield.
