Nollywood star Funke Akindele is one of Nigeria’s biggest stars.
Funke gained national fame when she starred in 2008’s hit comedy-drama, Jenifa.
The role not only made Funke a household name, but it also won her the “Best Actress in a Leading Role” award at the Africa Movie Academy Awards.

When she is not acting, Funke is busy building an empire and defending her fellow Nigerians.
She joined fellow actress Adesua Etomi condemning the recent xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

Acting has always been her calling, but she almost became a lawyer. Funke’s father convinced her to study law after high school. She obtained her law degree from the University of Lagos. While she is not a practising lawyer, Funke said in an interview that she might practise later on in life. She can also fall back on her Ordinary National Diploma in Mass Communications.
Before her big break in Jenifa, Funke appeared in the UN Population Fund sponsored show, I Need to Know between. The popular TV series aired between 1998 and 2002. Funke also played a waitress in Naked Wire. The talented star has won over 11 best actress and lead actress awards. Her popular spinoff show, Jenifa’s Diary, was also named “Best TV Series” in 2017. Enke is a respected film producer and scriptwriter as well.

Funke Akindele was born in Ikorodu, Lagos State, on August 24, 1977. Her real name is Akindele Olufunke Ayotunde. The actress celebrated her 42nd birthday in 2019 with a self-love post about herself. “It's all about ME!!! Thank you Lord for another year!! Funke Akindele’s wedding was one of Nigeria’s biggest news stories of 2016. The actress married Nigerian rapper Abdul Rasheed ‘JJC Skillz’ Bello in a private ceremony in London. Only close family and friends were in attendance. The wedding came as a surprise to Funke’s fans as many only found out about the day via social media.
Funke and JJC Skillz celebrated their third wedding anniversary in August 2019. Funke took to Instagram to share a sweet video of some of their favourite moments together.  JJC Skillz also shared the clip.

Funke Akindele was previously married to Adeola Kehinde Oloyede. The former lovers tied-the-knot in May 2012 but called it quits in July 2013. Irreconcilable differences were cited as the reason for the end of their marriage.

Sadly, several local reports would later claim that she suffered a miscarriage six months into her pregnancy.

Reports about Funke Akindele’s death have been greatly exaggerated. A fake news report claimed in 2017 that the actress died days after giving birth. The report also claimed that her husband, Toafiq Alhassan, confirmed the birth and her passing. Funke did not have a husband named Toafiq in 2017 or any other year of her adult life. The only loss Funke's family suffered in 2017 was the death of unborn child.
