CONFIRMED: Amanda Du Pont to file rape case against Jub Jub

Media personality Amanda Du Pont is set to open a rape case against former boyfriend Jub Jub, just days after revealing that the Moja Love presenter raped her during their relationship. Du Pont’s lawyer Tony Mathe confirmed the news to SABC News on Saturday afternoon, 4 December 2021.

“Miss Du Pont is prepared to take this matter forward and to have the perpetrator account for what he has done to violate her in the past… We can confirm that having consulted with our client, there will be a case open soon enough. We can’t give the specific date at this current time, but we can confirm that a case will be opened”

Mathe said there were several factors that have to consider to make sure that they don’t compromise their case, before officially filing. He says they are currently putting together a very strong case against Jub Jub, whose real name is Molemo Katleho Maarohanye.

“Currently we can confirm that the main charge that we will be pursuing is the charge of rape. It will be upon the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) to add other charges, should they see fit that there are other charges that should be pursued here. But at the present moment, we confirm it will be the rape charges that will be pursued by my client,” Mathe said.

JUB JUB VS AMANDA DU PONT: SOME BACKGROUND

Amanda Du Pont revealed in an 18-minute video on Instagram that Jub Jub had raped and abused her during their relationship. It all started when Jub Jub appeared on Podcast and Chill with MacG – his biggest mistake! It was when Jub Jub spoke about his relationship with Du Pont, that prompted the former Skeem Saam actress to speak out.

Added onto that is the fact that former radio presenter and current spokesperson for the Minister of Sports, Arts & Culture, Masechaba Khumalo also alleged that Jub Jub raped her.

The walls then caved in on both Jub Jub and MacG – the musician was suspended from his hit show on Moja Love. Uyajola 9/9, while Amstel cancelled its sponsorship of MacG’s podcast.
