Pitso Mosimane leaves warm message for Manchester United star Marcus Rashford
Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane has left a warm message of appreciation to Manchester United star Marcus Rashford.
In the wee hours of Tuesday morning, Mosimane took to his official Twitter account to pay his respects to Manchester United’s Rashford.
Rashford was initially awarded last year
Rashford had received an honorary doctorate from the University of Manchester, in a specially organised ceremony that took place on his Manchester United stomping ground, Old Trafford on the 7th of October. The England star was initially awarded in July last year but due to Covid-19 restrictions at the time, a formal in-person hand over could not be authorised.
This would prove to be a feat that would move Mosimane who then took to his official Twitter account, to post a picture of Rashford, with the Manchester United forward fully draped in his gown and hat, all smiles. Mosimane would then go on to laud the 23-year-old.
Mosimane’s message
“Dr @MarcusRashford MBE, what an inspirational story. Yes, it is possible. A true role model, especially to those who come from humble beginnings. Bravo (clapping emoji).” Wrote Mosimane on his caption.
The inspirational story Mosimane is referring to of course, stems from Rashford’s charity work which includes his well-publicised campaign to feed children from disadvantaged backgrounds in England. But the award was not limited to just his off field activities, but also his achievements on the field of play with Manchester United.

The honour Rashford received is the highest that can be earned from the University of Manchester, and Rashford, effectively becomes the youngest recipient of it, in the entire history of the university, so no wonder Mosimane is impressed.
Almost had silverware to crown the moment with
Rashford came close to crowning a spectacular period in his career with a Euro 2020 title, but England unfortunately lost out to Italy on penalties. The forward is yet to play for Manchester United his season, having had shoulder surgery after that particular tournament, but had been back in full training before the international break.

Manchester United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had also hinted in his last press conference that Rashford could be involved the next time the Red Devils are in action against Leicester City this weekend. Mosimane may well be watching with a keen interest.
