Kaizer Chiefs starting XI prediction: DStv Premiership vs Amazulu

Kaizer Chiefs head into their clash with Amazulu under all sorts of pressure but does that mean Stuart Baxter will stick or twist regarding the starting XI.

Here we look at how Kaizer Chiefs might line up against Amazulu on Saturday.

After keeping a clean sheet last time out, we would expect that Daniel Akepyi will retain his place in goal halting the merry-go-round between the sticks.

Sifiso Hlanti’s sending off will open the door for Sibusiso Mabaliso to make just his second start for Kaizer Chiefs in the DStv Premiership. Baxter may also consider the services of Happy Mashiane.

Love them or hate them, Daniel Cardoso and Erick Mathoho will not be shifted from their place at the heart of the Kaizer Chiefs defence.

Reeve Frosler put in a decent shift in his first start of the season against Marumo Gallants and will more than likely continue in the role.

Kaizer Chiefs have little choice but to stick with central midfield duo Njabulo Blom and Cole Alexander, despite the latter being bullied by Gallants Miguel Timm in their last outing.

Bernard Parker assumed Lebogang Manyama’s role as a false nine, last time out and offered more than the man he replaced. Expect Baxter to revert to Parker in a bid to solve the problems in the final third.

On the wings, Keagan Dolly and Khama Billiat should hold onto their places in the team.

Kaizer Chiefs failure to sign an out and out striker has left them with a huge problem in their quest to replace injured striker Samir Nurkovic in the starting XI.

Nkosingiphile Ngcobo showed a great deal of intensity and effort without making much of an impact last time out but with only Lazarous Kambole in reserve, Ngcobo is likely to start up front. Kaizer Chiefs don’t have a target man to deploy which could see Baxter try a left-field option, but the risk of playing a centre back at nine is likely to outweigh the rewards of an experiment paying off.
