Kaizer Chiefs latest: Stuart Baxter hits back at critics!
Kaizer Chiefs head coach Stuart Baxter has hit back at his critics following a difficult return to the Glamour Boys.
Baxter’s side have picked up just six points from their opening six DStv Premiership clashes while they were also dumped out of the MTN8 at the first hurdle, albeit via a penalty shootout loss against Mamelodi Sundowns.
Stuart Baxter however insists that he’s not under pressure at Kaizer Chiefs despite the club’s lackluster form.
Baxter hits back at Kaizer Chiefs critics
“Social media and what people think changes so quickly. I came into the club with no pre-season, we have played six league games and you are asking me if my job is under pressure?” Kaizer Chiefs head coach Stuart Baxter said after being questioned regarding his future at the club.
“I am the only coach who has won anything for Chiefs in the last 8 years and you are asking me if my job is under pressure? It is a fast tsunami that can pick up nowadays. Sometimes clubs make good decisions and sometimes they make bad ones. But in the real football world you would think you need to have a bit more time and patience.
“Gavin Hunt, Stuart Baxter, Ernst Middendorp, every Kaizer Chiefs coach we know, every day they are under pressure. And I have sympathy with every coach. Every coach who is relieved of his duties has more to offer. Not everyone is working at Manchester City in a virtual perfect world.
“In every job there are restrictions, unlucky happenings with injuries, there is the pandemic, the locking of supporters out of stadiums. A coach can be relieved of his duties and can not have done anything wrong.”
Kaizer Chiefs next turn their attention to Chippa United who are currently managed by former mentor Gavin Hunt on Saturday afternoon. Kick-off is scheduled for 17:30.
