Severe Weather Alerts

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

  1. Yellow level 3 warning for disruptive rain leading to flooding can be expected over the extreme eastern parts of the Eastern Cape Province and Kwa-Zulu-Natal.
  2. Yellow level 1 warning for snow over the southern Drakensberg from early morning resulting in icy roads and loss of vulnerable livestock and crops.

Gauteng:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and cool but warm in the north with afternoon isolated showers and thundershowers.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Very High.

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Morning fog over the escarpment, otherwise cloudy and cool but warm over the Lowveld. Isolated showers and thundershowers are possible in places.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Morning fog over the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm.

North-West Province:

Temperature: Fine and warm, but partly cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers in the east.

Free State:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and cool with isolated showers and thundershowers over the central and the northern parts, but scattered in the east where it will be cold.

Northern Cape:

Temperature: Fine and cool, but partly cloudy in the south.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be Private Bag fresh to strong southerly to south-easterly.

Western Cape:

Temperature: Cold in places, otherwise fine and cool, but partly cloudy in the east.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-easterly, but light easterly along the south coast, becoming moderate by the evening.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: High.

Eastern Cape:

The Western half Temperature: Cloudy and cold but cool along the coast and adjacent interior. Isolated showers and rain are expected but scattered in the east.

The Western half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be light easterly.

The Eastern half Temperature: Cloudy and cold to very cold with widespread showers. light to moderate snowfalls expected over the southern
Drakensberg from early morning.

The Eastern half Wind: The wind along the coast will be Light south easterly becoming north easterly from late afternoon.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Cloudy and cold but cool in the north east. Widespread showers and thundershowers are expected.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be Moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: High.
