Severe Weather Alerts

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

  1. Yellow Level 4 Warning for RAIN leading to flooding is expected over southern parts of the West Coast, Overberg and Cape Winelands Districts (W.Cape).
  2. Orange Level 6 Warning for RAIN leading to flooding is expected City of Cape Town, Drakenstein, Stellenbosch, Theewaterskloof and Overstrand.
  3. Yellow Level 1 Warning for WIND with localised problems for high-sided vehicles on prone routes is expected over the southern parts of Namakwa (N.Cape), Cape Winelands, Central Karoo, City of Cape Town Districts and Overstrand Municipality ( W.Cape).
  4. Yellow Level 1 Warning for COASTAL WIND resulting in difficulty in navigation at sea is expected between Cape Columbine and Cape Agulhas.
  5. Yellow Level 2 Warning for WAVES resulting in difficulty in navigation at sea between Cape Columbine and Cape Agulhas.
  6. A yellow level 2 for damaging winds in places over the Eastern Cape interior.

FIRE DANGER WARNINGS:

  1. Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the Central Karoo District and Oudtshoorn Municipality.

Gauteng:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers in the south.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Extreme.

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Cloudy with isolated morning showers in the Highveld, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Cloudy with morning showers in the Western Bushveld, otherwise partly cloudy and warm.

North-West Province:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers, except the eastern part.

Free State:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers except in the extreme northeast.

Northern Cape:

East temperature: Fine and cool to warm, becoming cloudy to partly cloudy in the north by the afternoon with isolated shower over the northeastern parts.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south easterly, becoming moderate to fresh north westerly north of Port Nolloth in the afternoon spreading to southwards by the evening.

Western Cape:

Temperature: Cloudy along the coastal regions otherwise fine, becoming cloudy and cool over the western parts and partly cloudy and warm over the eastern interior Prefrontal drizzle is expected late morning over the extreme southwestern parts becoming light to moderate rain by the afternoon spreading to the adjacent interior.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be Fresh to strong northwesterly reaching gale south of Table Bay where it will become westerly in the afternoon and spreading along the south coast

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Low.

Eastern Cape:

The Western half Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm with windy conditions over the interior. Isolated morning showers are likely in places.

The Western half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be Moderate south westerly becoming light to moderate easterly in the afternoon.

The Eastern half Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm with windy conditions over the interior. Isolated showers are likely in places.

The Eastern half Wind: The wind along the coast will be Moderate northerly to north easterly.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm but cool in the south-west. Isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers are expected.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be Moderate to fresh north-easterly.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: High.
