Sipho Mbule: Do Kaizer Chiefs REALLY need the SuperSport United star?

SuperSport United midfielder Sipho Mbule continues to be heavily linked with a possible move to Kaizer Chiefs but do they REALLY need him?

After years of struggling to attract and recruit quality players, Chiefs appear to have finally regain their ‘transfer touch’.

Acquiring players such as highly rated defender Njabulo Ngcobo and midfielders Kgaogelo Sekgota and Keagan Dolly, was an indication that Chiefs mean business this season.

However, their supporters want more, and among those wanted by the millions of Amakhosi fans is none other Mbule.

Mbule has shown so much maturity and growth in his game since making his debut for SuperSport United in 2017.

In addition, the experience he gained when SuperSport United made the final of the CAF Confederation Cup in 2017 has undoubtedly did his career a world of good.

Mbule is a modern central midfielder whose versatility is what every coach would want in their team; he has blossomed as a defensive midfielder, a central midfielder, and a winger.

What makes him good is that he still scores goals from a more a deeper role behind the attacking midfielders.

However, Chiefs have more personnel in that department – both defensive and central – at this stage, and there are some exciting talent that still needs to be unleashed.

Just over a week ago, Chiefs fans were raving about the young Sabelo Radebe who is their new gem in that attacking midfield position in addition to Given Thibedi.

Don’t forget, Chiefs also have Kearyn Baccus, Njabulo Blom, Anthony Akumu, Darrel Matsheke, and new signings Phathutshedzo Nange and Cole Alexander in central midfield.

If Mbule is brought in by Chiefs then sacrifices must be made – he should be prepared to sometimes warm the bench while those who saw potential in the abovementioned players should also be prepared to make peace with the fact that their favourite players could make way for Mbule.

In all honesty, Chiefs DO NOT need Mbule at this point as they have enough ammunition in that midfield to compete against anyone in the league.

They should be channeling all their energies on finding a prolific striker to ease the pressure on Samir Nurkovic whom they could also lose before 31 August.
