Josef Zinnbauer’s final win-loss-draw numbers as Orlando Pirates coach
Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer shocked the South African football fraternity on Monday when he announced his shock resignation on the eve of the 2021/22 DStv Premiership.

The 51-year-old German cited the fact that he’s been away from his family for the last two years for his decision.

Zinnbauer took over as Buccaneers coach in December 2019 and helped steer the team to a third-place finish in his first half-season in charge.
He followed that up by winning the MTN8 title in the 2020/21 campaign with Orlando Pirates again finishing the league season in third place and qualifying for the CAF Confederation Cup.

All told, Zinnbauer departs the Soweto giants having taken charge of 68 matches in all competitions with a record of 35 wins, 20 draws and 13 losses for a win percentage of a little over 51%.

Zinnbauer’s decision has left Orlando Pirates scrambling to fill the coaching void ahead of their opening match of the new season at home against Stellenbosch FC on Saturday, 21 August.
Kick-off at the Orlando Stadium is at 15:00.
