‘I will never be the same’: AKA pens touching tribute to Nelli Tembe
Rapper Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, popularly known by his stage name AKA, penned a tribute to his late fiancée Anele “Nelli” Tembe marking four months since her death via an Instagram post this morning (11 August).
AKA’S TOUCHING TRIBUTE TO NELLI TEMBE
Nelli Tembe plunged to her death from the 10th floor of the Pepperclub Hotel in Cape Town on Sunday 11 April exactly four months ago. Nelli Tembe died just two weeks after AKA paid lobola to her family.
The Fela in Versace hitmaker took to Instagram early this morning to pen a message to his late fiancée saying he will never be the same person he was, but he will do his best with the “gift” of life he has left.
“4 months to this day. … it never goes away. Everyday I pray for her, myself and our families. I will never be the same person I was … but I will do the best I can with the gift and opportunity of life that I still have left,” wrote AKA on Instagram.
“Thank You to everyone who has stuck by me and our respective families … you know who you are. ,” he continued.
AKA followed up his post with four heartbroken emojis on his Instagram story along with a video of the couple dancing together.

THE LATEST ON NELLI TEMBE’S CASE
There has been uncertainty surrounding the death of the 22-year-old. At first it was reported as a suicide but investigators took a closer look at the case and according to City Press the initial inquest was conducted as murder with AKA being the prime suspect.
However, it seems AKA’s tell-all interview with eNCA news anchor Thembekile Mrototo may have gotten him off-the-hook as the initial inquest was concluded by police on 25 May, just three days after his interview.
“After the interview, the matter was closed by the SAPS and handed over to the NPA for review. The NPA then reverted and said this was a suicide investigation and what (the police) had provided had elements (of there being) a suspect of murder,” said the source City Press.
A new investigation has since been opened which is “standard” procedure when the deceased passed away due to “unnatural causes”.
