Senior Forecaster Jacqueline Modika said on Sunday that the SAWS received numerous inquiries about social media posts claiming there will be widespread snowfall over all provinces of SA, including Gauteng, Johannesburg, and Pretoria.
“We would like to dismiss these claims. However, we would like to acknowledge that we are expecting an intense cold front to reach South Africa by Thursday.
“This is likely to produce snowfalls over the Western Cape high lying areas and as well as the Western and Southern high lying of the Northern Cape. The snowfall is expected to spread to the Eastern Cape high lying areas and the Drakensberg.”
