Chippa United are TOP of the DStv Premiership log – it’s true!
Minnows Chippa United managed to hold defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns to a superb draw in their first home encounter of the 2021/22 DStv Premiership season on Tuesday.

The match at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium ended goalless after 90 minutes.
That point, in addition to their three points secured thanks to a 1-0 win in their opener last weekend against Sekhukhune United, has seen Gavin Hunt’s men jump to the top of the early standings.

Certainly a far cry from where they ended up last season – in 15th place!
Hunt said post-match that the aim is to “get to 30 points as quickly as possible”.

In the 2020/21 season Chippa United finished on 27 points so 30 does sound like a “safe” number.
Chippa United will have an excellent chance to add to their points tally against Royal AM in their next match on Sunday, 12 September.
