Breakfast Rice Porridge – Get that early morning energy boost

Everybody needs a boost in the morning. If you’re somebody who likes an intense workout early in the day, you need energy and we have you sorted. Rinsing the rice helps get rid of excess starch and creates the fluffiest rice you’ve ever had. It takes about the same time to make as cooked oats, so your routine won’t be changed in the morning. The banana adds extra potassium to help with preventing cramp, especially if you’re an endurance athlete. The nuts contain those important fats which gets converted to energy as well. Breakfast Rice Porridge Recipe

    Ingredients

    • 70 g Long white rice

    • 250 ml Almond milk

    • 1 tsp Cinnamon

    • 60 g Chopped banana

    • 2 tbsp Honey

    • 1 tsp Vanilla extract

    • 15 g Raw almonds

    • 2 Diced strawberries

    Method

    • Rinse the rice until the water colour is transparent.
    • Place the rinsed rice into a small pot and add the almond milk.
    • Bring to a boil on a low heat and add the cinnamon, honey and vanilla extract.
    • Stir once in a while to prevent burning.
    • Once the rice is soft, serve into a small bowl.
    • Just before serving sprinkle the almond nuts, banana and strawberries on top.
    • Serve.
