Afrikaans singer Steve Hofmeyr test positive for Covid-19

The Afrikaans singer Steve Hofmeyr announced on Friday evening that several of his show had to be postponed as he had tested positive for Covid-19.

“Sorry, everyone. I wanted to test and test until it was negative, but I’m positive. I feel good. Except for a nasty chest, I have no symptoms. Thanks for so much advice and great support. These are the prayers I feel because there are angels around us.”

Hofmeyr said he is recuperating in bed while self-isolating.

His fans were quick to give advice on how to recover from the virus, by Friday evening his post had more than 3 000 comments.

Hofmeyr is one of the many South African celebrities that have tested positive during the last Covid-19 wave.

It has been a rough month in South Africa, with several well-known, beloved celebrities who died of Covid-19.

Veteran actor Lieb Bester has died shortly after he battled Covid-19. He was 72.

The co-presenter of Met ‘n Huppel in die Stap on kykNET (DStv 144) died in Pretoria.

Around the same time TV producer and actor, Shona Ferguson passed away at the age of 47.

Ferguson, the creator of the hit soap The Queen on DSTV’s Mzansi Magic, had been admitted to Milpark private hospital in Johannesburg, more than a week ago and was in ICU.

The Ferguson family confirmed in a statement that he died from complications related to Covid-19, and not from a heart operation, as some media outlets have reported.

Celebrity chef, cookbook author, and award-winning TV personality Lesego Semenya aka LesDaChef, also died after a battle with Covid-19.

The news about his death was announced on Twitter. It comes after he tweeted last week that he had tested positive for Covid-19 and that he was hoping for the best as he had a co-morbidity.
