Severe Weather Alerts

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

  1. Yellow level 1 warning for Wind resulting in localised problems for high-sided vehicles on prone routes due to strong and gusty north-westerly winds that are expected over the interior of the Western Cape and southern parts of the Northern Cape.

FIRE DANGER WARNINGS:

  1. Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the Beaufort West (W.Cape) municipality today but throughout the Central Karoo and the Little Karoo (W.Cape), Karoo Hoogland and Khai-Ma (N.Cape) municipalities as well as the western parts of the Eastern Cape.

Gauteng:

Temperature: Fine and cool, but cold in the south.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Very high.

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Partly cloudy with morning fog, otherwise fine and cool.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Partly cloudy in the east with morning fog patches, otherwise fine and cold, but cool in the lowveld.

North-West Province:

Temperature: Fine and cool.

Free State:

Temperature: Fine and cool to cold.

Northern Cape:

East temperature: Fine and cool, but partly cloudy in the extreme west.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate north to north-westerly.

Western Cape:

Temperature: Cloudy in the west otherwise fine and cool. Rain can be expected over the south-western parts in the afternoon spreading to the east by the evening. Damaging winds can be expected over the astern parts of the Cape Winelands and Central Karoo by the afternoon.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh westerly to south-easterly reaching strong east of Mossel Bay in the morning as well as between Cape Point and Cape Agulhas, spreading to Still Bay by the afternoon.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Low.

Eastern Cape:

The Western half Temperature: Warm in the south, otherwise fine and cool, but windy in places. It will become cloudy along the coast from evening.

The Western half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be Moderate to fresh north westerly, reaching strong in places, becoming south westerly from the west in the afternoon.

The Eastern half Temperature: Fine and cool, but warm in places along the coast and adjacent interior.

The Eastern half Wind: The wind along the coast will be Moderate to fresh north westerly, but moderate to fresh north easterly in places in
the afternoon.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Fine and cool and warm.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh northerly to north-easterly.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: High.
