Murdered: 51-year-old KZN security officer shot and killed
A 51-year-old security officer was shot and killed on Tuesday evening at a reservoir in Emona, Tongaat.
REACTION OFFICERS WERE FLAGGED WHILE ON PATROL
Prem Barlam, spokesperson of the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) said reaction officers were flagged while conducting a patrol.
“Enforce Security Officer requesting assistance for his unresponsive colleague.”
The 51-year-old security officer and his colleague were tasked with guarding the reservoir.
“Three suspects entered the premises and held them up.
“Their attackers deprived both security officers of their .38 Special revolvers and their cellphones.”
THE SECURITY OFFICER WAS FOUND WITH A GUNSHOT TO HIS BACK
The 51-year-old security officer was found lying on his back in a shipping container. He sustained a gunshot wound to his back and was declared deceased.

“During the robbery, the suspects fired at least three shots before they fled on foot in an unknown direction.”
Barlam said a 9mm bullet and three spent cartridges were recovered.
He furthermore said police are investigating further.
Earlier this year a security officer was disarmed by the group shortly before he was shot and left for dead outside a supermarket in the Heidedal residential area.
The security officer was declared dead by emergency medical personnel.
The armed gang is believed to have secured an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene in a white Ford Ranger.

Last month a 57-year-old security officer was arrested after shooting a teenager during the violent shutdown protests in Mangaung on Monday morning, 17 May.
The incident took place at a warehouse in Dr Belcher road, Bloemfontein when a group of protestors allegedly attempted to attack the storage facility.
Unfortunately, the teenager died at the scene.
