Faf du Plessis in frightening on-field PSL collision with team-mate – WATCH

Proteas star batsman Faf du Plessis has been taken to hospital after a nasty collision with Quetta Gladiators team-mate Mohammad Husnain during a Pakistan Super League (PSL) match on Saturday, 12 June.

The incident took place during the match between Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Faf du Plessis made a diving attempt on the boundary in the seventh over of Peshawar Zalmi’s innings.

Du Plessis’ head collided with the leg of Mohammad Hasnain and he fell to the ground.

Thirty six-year-old Du Plessis, who took no further part in the match, was seen sitting in the Quetta Gladiators dugout after the collision and the impact on his neck can be seen in the video below.

According to media reports he was taken to hospital post-match for further scans.

Zalmi won the match by 61 runs.

Du Plessis joined Quetta Gladiators for the 2021 PSL season which resumed in the United Arab Emirates on 9 June after being suspended due to positive Covid-19 tests in the bio-bubbles when the event kicked off in Pakistan in March.
