Armed robbery at MegaZone Radio Station during live broadcast

Armed men held up the presenters of the MegaZone radio station in Umhlanga Ridge during a live broadcast on Friday evening.

ARMED MEN STORMED THE STUDIOS DURING A LIVE BROADCAST

The armed men stormed into the studios of the MegaZone radio station on Friday evening and robbed the station while presenters were on air.

Lance Nayager, one of the presenters confirm the robbery on Saturday.

He was on his way to the hospital on Saturday morning.

“I am not ok after last night, I was hit with a gun on the side of my face by one of the armed men and kicked by the suspects.”

Nayager added that they were all still in shock.

According to Kyle van Reenen, Emer-G-Med spokesperson the robbery took place around 19:30.

“Paramedics were called to the scene at a popular radio station’s studios on Palm Boulevard in the Umhlanga Ridge area.”

He said reports from the scene allege that multiple armed men forced entry into the premises holding up the presenters during the radio show.

THE ARMED MEN TOOK OFF WITH SEVERAL HIGH-END ELECTRONIC DEVICES

The armed men took off with several high-end electronic devices.

Van Reenen said the presenters were assessed on the scene.

He said the South African Police Services were in attendance and will be conducting the necessary investigation accordingly.

Police could not immediately provide more information on the robbery.
