Pitso to be sacked by Al Ahly? What options does Mosimane have?
Pitso Mosimane is reported to be on the verge of being fired by Egyptian giants Al Ahly after dropping a few points in the race for the Premier League title.
Al Ahly are second on the log having collected 40 points from 18 games. They are four points behind log leaders and arch-rivals Zamalek who have played two games more.

Mosimane is still relatively new to the job having joined Al Ahly in November 2020 – he has barely coached 40 games for the Red Devils.
A number of results have gone against him and his team in recent weeks and there are already growing calls from a section of fans and the media alike for the 56-year-old to be shown the exit door.
According to Al Ahly’s board member Mohammed Fadl, Mosimane’s days are numbered, but he claims this isn’t the information he knows but expects at the end of the current season.

What options does Mosimane have IF he’s indeed sacked by Al Ahly?
Mosimane’s CV as a coach is already decorated, and it wouldn’t take long for him to get a job.
He has already won the league, CAF Champions League, and the Egyptian Cup with Al Ahly, and that success has undoubtedly drawn the attention of many clubs.

At first, Al Ahly were not the only team interested in Mosimane when he was at Mamelodi Sundowns; teams such as Wydad Casablanca among others also wanted the Kagiso-born mentor.
The chance for Mosimane to coach Bafana Bafana is gone, meaning he’s not an option for the national team at the moment.
With his winning pedigree, Mosimane could easily secure a job in the Middle East and work his way up to one day coaching in big European countries.

Some may feel Mosimane should come back to South Africa soon after leaving Al Ahly.
But in all honesty, that doesn’t seem to be in Mosimane’s plans for the future.
However, if he does, the first team to probably jump at the opportunity to have him could be Orlando Pirates.

Current Bucs coach Josef Zinnbauer is under immense pressure from the supporters who feel he’s not good enough for their club.
That coupled with Mosimane’s close relationship with Dr. Irvin Khoza could see him accept a possible offer to coach Pirates.
His former club, Mamelodi Sundowns, is doing well with their three-man technical team, and chances of the club management dismantling that combination, in order to accommodate Mosimane, are minimal.
