Lloyd Harris faces tough assignment in Round 1 of Madrid Open

Top-ranked South African tennis star Lloyd Harris faces a tough assignment in the opening round of the Madrid Open on Monday.

Lloyd Harris, currently ranked 51st in the live ATP rankings, will face Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov, the world No 16.

Dimitrov is seeded 13th this week.

The pair have never met before at ATP tour level.

Harris is coming off a month-long wrist injury break as well as a first round defeat at the Estoril Open last week.

Defending champion Novak Djokovic is skipping the tournament.

Meanwhile, both Kevin Anderson and Raven Klaasen will skip the latest clay-court stop on the calendar as both look to build up to the year’s second Grand Slam, the French Open at Roland Garros, starting on 30 May.
