Kaizer Chiefs latest | ‘Stuart Baxter was successful because he had players’
Stuart Baxter enjoyed huge success with Kaizer Chiefs between 2012 and 2015 because he had the right players at his disposal.
That’s according to former Amakhosi assistant Farouk Khan as reports of Baxter’s possible return to Naturena continue to gain momentum.

Baxter is expected back in the country this week to conclude his deal with Chiefs, and take over from Gavin Hunt who was sacked on Friday.
Asked if Baxter will enjoy the same success as he did in his three-year stay with Chiefs, Khan told The Citizen: “It is a difficult one to call.”
“He was very successful in his first stint there, but he had the players,” he said.

Khan singled out players such as Tefu Mashamaite, Itumeleng Khune, Siphiwe Tshabalala, Reneilwe Letsholonyane, and Willard Katsande among those who made Baxter’s tenure a success.
He added that Baxter didn’t do well at SuperSport United, especially in the league even with the squad he had.
“He had Tefu Mashamaite at centre back, he had Itumeleng Khune at his peak, Shabba was phenomenal as well as Yeye, and Katsande won everything in midfield,” added Khan.

“At SuperSport, even with the players he had there, he didn’t fare as well [in the league].”
