Twitter reacts as former president Jacob Zuma turns 79

Former president Jacob Zuma is celebrating his 79th birthday on Monday 12 April 2021 and, funny enough, shares it with Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan.

While the two political figures share a birthday and are exactly seven years apart, it’s not very likely that they will be celebrating together. Chances are though…Zuma will be enjoying a cup of tea at the very least.

JACOB ZUMA TURNS 79, WHAT ARE THE BIRTHDAY PLANS?

Jacob Zuma was born on 12 April 1942 meaning he has seen 79 years of life but on Monday his Twitter account appears to be awfully quiet. We can’t say the same for the rest of Mzansi though.

Zuma’s daughter Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla took to Twitter on Monday morning saying that many have sent birthday messages to the former president. She went on to thank them for their “love” and “support”.

She added that the foundation would compile messages into a book for Jacob Zuma.

“Please send messages to the email address below,” she said. The email address provided you ask? It was none other than zumaafricanliberator@gmail.com.

Now while some have eagerly wished Msholozi, some Twitter users were having none of it. One of them commented on Duduzile’s post saying; “No thanks, rather give our money back”.

Others couldn’t help but comment on the email address that was supplied. One Tweep replied to Duduzile saying; “More like zumaafricanlooter@gmail.com”.

Another said; “Happy birthday. Hopefully the next will be in overalls. Guptas send love and samoosas”.

Other users said he should start taking measurements for the “orange uniform”. Another said: “Happy Birthday Constitutional delinquent, may you grow a conscience and come clean”.

Zuma, in recent months, failed to appear at the State Capture Commission of Inquiry and these actions could see him locked up. In the meantime, it’s a waiting game like no other.

FORMER PRESIDENT PRAISED AS ‘FATHER OF THE NATION’

While some Tweeps took an iron approach, the rest of the comments on Duduzile’s post were warm and affectionate. Some even thanked her for the email address that was supplied.

“Through your thoughtful leadership, great vision and sincerity, you have had a positive impact on every aspect of our country. Happy Birthday Nxamalala,” said one user.

“Happpiiiiiiii Happy Birthday Msholozi. May God bless you with good health and many more years to come and lots and lots of money,” said another.
