Retired K9 dog’s hilarious reaction to word ‘cocaine’ goes viral [video]
A hilarious video of a retired K9 dog‘s response to the word ‘cocaine’ has gone viral.
Sniffer dog knows English
It seems the dog named Dante’s detective skills are still on point – and dog-lovers simply cannot get enough. According to the New York Post, the TikTok video of the uproarious reaction was first posted in March 2021 — but is currently going viral with more than 2.5 million views and more than 30 million cross-platform views.
The funny footage was first shared on TikTok by Queensland’s Davey Rutherford, who adopted Dante after he retired from the force. In the video, captioned “sniffer dog knows English,” the German shepherd can be seen panting on a bed while Rutherford talks about his shopping list.
Once a police dog, always a police dog
“All right, shopping list: Bread, milk, pasta, eggs, mayo, cocaine,” Rutherford says. Upon hearing the word ‘cocaine’, Dante reflexively whips his head around and flashes Rutherford a deadly serious look — as if to let him know that he crossed the line. This left tweeps seriously impressed.
“Once a police dog always a police dog,” one impressed Twitter user tweeted. “I have just watched this 3 times to see the face,” remarked one TikTok fan. Another TikTok wit quipped that Dante is “never off duty.”
“He was like you know I’m ex police right,” wrote another.
“We don’t joke about such things in this house,” one TikToker imaged Dante telling his owner.
“Sir that’s illegal,” another teased.
More special skills
Recognizing cocaine is apparently not the only skill Dante retained from his crime-fighting career. Another clip shows the ex-policedog kicking open a door like a member of a SWAT team.
He apparently does this everyday. In fact, Rutherford’s TikTok account features a lot more videos like this.
In another video, Dante is seemingly not impressed when his owner refers to the palm tree behind him.
