Gauteng man mistakenly bets TWICE on Lotto draw – and wins ‘double jackpot’!
If you’re going to balls-up your selection for the Lotto draw, then take a page out of this guy’s book. A South African male in his fifties has cleared over R800 000 this month, after striking it lucky TWICE on the same set of numbers.
Double-dip delight: Lotto winner ‘played ticket twice’
The serendipitous circumstances that lead the unnamed winner to his ‘double-jackpot’ saw the player place his stakes online. However, he encountered some sort of technical problem, ensuring he would have to put his picks through twice.
There were three winners in the Lotto Plus 1 draw a week last Wednesday. But this successful gambler found out he’d be sharing two-thirds of the R1.2 million fortune with himself. Lottery operator Ithuba has also revealed the following:
- – Although he has remained anonymous, we know that this double-dipper is a 57-year old geologist from Gauteng.
- – The winner played using a banking app, choosing his numbers manually.
- – These ‘lucky numbers’ came up for the Lotto Plus 1 draw on Wednesday 14 April.
- – The man won a total of R803 434.20 from his fortuitous picks – and confirmed he’d be investing this windfall right away.
How will the jackpot winnings be spent?
In comments carried by Ithuba, the prize-winning scientist is now looking forward to settling his debts, and developing his house further. He also wants to make sure the rest of the jackpot is properly looked after, and therefore, most of the cash will now be put into an investment fund. A wise decision, may we add…
“I was extremely happy to learn that I had won the Lotto jackpot. I’ll use this money to pay off all my debts. I’m currently building a house for my wife and me. A small portion of my winnings will go towards the completion and furnishing of the house. I plan on investing the balance of my winnings to have savings available for a rainy day.”
