‘ANC, AfriForum working together to eliminate me’ – Malema goes full conspiracy
Julius Malema is no stranger to the odd outlandish claim here and there, but the EFF leader is punting a new theory this week. According to the 40-year-old, he is now the subject of a political conspiracy between two unlikely collaborators – in the ANC and AfriForum – who want to ‘eliminate him’ by any means necessary.
Julius Malema shares incredible conspiracy theory
Speaking on Wednesday afternoon, the senior Red Beret was adamant that evidence in his ongoing assault trial (now postponed until July) has been tampered with. When pressed to explain why he felt this was happening, Malema gave us a conspiracy theory that would be right at home in a Hollywood blockbuster:
“They want Malema and Ndlozi guilty by any means necessary. The pictures removed from evidence are perhaps not in the best interests of AfriForum and ANC. They are pursuing the same interests, they share similar ideological perspectives. It does not shock us, AfriForum and the ANC are working together to eliminate what they see as a political threat.”
“You’ve got the right-wing and the former liberation party working together. We were clearly provoked [on the day of the assault] and the onus is on the prosecution to prove our guilt. No-one has any evidence to say we shouldn’t have been at the funeral proceedings for Winnie Mandela. None of them can say.”

AfriForum sneer at Juju’s theory
Malema and Mbuyiseni Ndlozi stand accused of assaulting a police officer, during a scuffle that took place three years ago. The pair were denied entry to the funeral of Winnie Mandela, and allegedly, knocked a serving security officer to the ground. Both EFF stalwarts deny the charges against them – and their latest claims have already stirred controversy.
Ernst Roets, the head of AfriForum policy, has laughed off the accusations of conspiracy. Hardly the most likely person to jump into bed with the ANC, Roets suggested Malema needed a ‘tin hat’ to go along with his new theory.
