Severe Weather Alerts

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

  1. Yellow level 2 warning for disruptive rainfall leading to localized flooding of susceptible roads and already vulnerable low lying areas and bridges as well as poor driving conditions is expected over Gauteng, eastern parts of the North West, in places in Mpumalanga and the central and southern parts of Limpopo.

FIRE DANGER WARNINGS:

  1. Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the south-western and central parts of the Northern Cape.

Gauteng:

Temperature: Cloudy at times and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Moderate.

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Cloudy and cool to warm with scattered showers and thundershowers but widespread on the northern Highveld.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Cloudy and warm with widespread showers and thundershowers but isolated to scattered in the north.

North-West Province:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the east where it will be cool.

Free State:

Temperature: Fine and hot in the west, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated afternoon thundershowers but scattered in the north-east and east
where it will be cool in places.

Northern Cape:

Temperature: Cool along the coast, otherwise fine and warm to hot but very hot in the north. It will become partly cloudy in the north-east with
isolated afternoon thundershowers.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate southerly to south-easterly but fresh to strong in the afternoon.

Western Cape:

Temperature: Partly cloudy over the southern parts in the morning, otherwise fine and warm to hot but very hot over the Central Karoo.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be light and variable along the south coast in the morning, otherwise moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly reaching strong in places north of Betty’s Bay from the afternoon.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Extreme.

Eastern Cape:

The Western halfTemperature: Partly cloudy and warm, but hot in the north.

The Western Half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be light to moderate north-easterly, becoming moderate to fresh easterly from late morning, reaching strong in places

The Eastern halfTemperature: Morning fog over the escarpment, otherwise cloudy at times and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers.

The Eastern halfWind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-easterly.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Morning fog over the central interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers but scattered in the extreme north-west.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate south-westerly to southerly.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: High.
