Al Ahly lost 2-0 to reigning European champions Bayern Munich in the Club World Cup semi-finals with Polish star Robert Lewandowski scoring a goal in each half.

However, following the final whistle, El-Shahat and Kahraba were seen shaking hands with Al Ahly legend Mohamed Aboutrika in the stands.

Due to the players’ breach of the precautionary measures, FIFA has suspended them from the third-placed playoff against Copa Libertadores champions Palmeiras on Thursday, February 11.

Kick-off is at 17:00 SA time.

El-Shahat and Kahraba both started the semi-final and impressed before being substituted.

El-Shahat has been one of Al Ahly’s best performers in the tournament to date, scoring their only goal against Al-Duhail in the opening round, while Kahraba led the team’s attacking line against Bayern Munich and caused the Bavarian defence trouble.

Coach Pitso Mosimane now faces a head-scratcher as how best to replace the pair.
