Benni McCarthy convinces a familiar face to join AmaZulu

Benni McCarthy has completed his first new signing since joining AmaZulu after securing the signature of Zukile Kewuti from Cape Town City.

McCarthy knows Kewuti well having coach the midfielder during his stint as coach of the Citizens.

Kewuti has joined Usuthu on a six-month loan deal.

Cape Town City confirmed in a tweet that the 26-year-old midfielder will spend the rest of the season on loan with the KwaZulu-Natal side.

According to a source close to AmaZulu, Kewuti will start training with Usuthu as early as Thursday, 11 February and there is also the possibility of a permanent move in future.

“There is the option to consider signing him on permanent basis next season,” the source told the KickOff website.

“Coach Benni McCarthy knows the boy very well having worked together at Cape Town City and knows his qualities.”

AmaZulu, who are seventh in the DStv Premirship standings, are next in action against Swallows FC on Sunday, 14 February.

Kick-off is at 15:30.
