Severe Weather Alerts

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

  1. Yellow level 3 warning for Disruptive rain over the western Bushveld of Limpopo and the north-eastern parts of the North-West, leading to localized flooding of roads, low lying bridges, low lying roads, dirt roads, and poor driving conditions.
  2. Red level 10 warning for Disruptive rain over the south-eastern parts of Limpopo, eastern Highveld, escarpment and Lowveld of Mpumalanga as well as the northern parts of KwaZulu-Natal, leading to widespread flooding and damages to roads, bridges, informal and formal settlements, danger to lives due to fast flowing streams, very poor driving conditions, communities not accessible or cut off, widespread disruption to transport routes and travel services.

FIRE DANGER WARNINGS:

  1. Nil.

ADVISORIES:

  1. Disruptive rainfall expected over the central and western parts of the Free State, western parts of the North West and north-eastern parts of the Northern Cape on Wednesday till Friday, resulting in possible localised flooding and damages to crops.

Gauteng:

Temperature: Cloudy, windy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Low.

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers, but widespread in the east. It will be warm in the Lowveld and windy in places on
the Highveld.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Cloudy and cool to warm with scattered showers and thundershowers, but widespread over the western Bushveld as well as the south-eastern escarpment.

North-West Province:

Temperature: Partly cloudy, windy and hot with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the east where it will be cloudy and warm. Widespread showers and thundershowers expected in the north-east.

Free State:

Temperature: Cold in the extreme east, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the east and north where it will be cloudy, windy and cool.

Northern Cape:

Temperature: Cloudy along the coast in the morning where it will be cool, otherwise fine and warm to hot, but partly cloudy in the north and east with isolated showers and thundershowers.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south-easterly.

Western Cape:

Temperature: Cloudy over the north-eastern interior at first, otherwise fine and warm to hot, but very hot in places over the western interior.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong easterly along the south coast, otherwise fresh to strong south-easterly.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Extreme.

Eastern Cape:

The Western halfTemperature: Cool in places along the coast, otherwise cloudy and warm with a slight chance of light rain in places in the east early morning, becoming fine from the afternoon.

The Western Half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong easterly.

The Eastern halfTemperature: Cloudy and cool with isolated showers and rain, but partly cloudy and warm with scattered afternoon thunderstorms in the north.

The Eastern halfWind: The wind along the coast will be moderate easterly early morning, otherwise fresh north-easterly, reaching strong in the afternoon.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Morning fog over the interior, otherwise cloudy with scattered showers and rain in the south but widespread in the north.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly but westerly to south-westerly in the north.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Extreme.
