Rebel Wilson talks about kidnapping ordeal in Mozambique

The Pitch Perfect actress, Rebel Wilson recently revealed she was once kidnapped and held at gunpoint while in Mozambique.

Rebel Wilson kidnapped at gunpoint in Africa

According to IOL, the 40-year-old actress was with a group of women in Mozambique when they were ordered to get out of their car by gunmen and taken to a remote house.

“There was one time in Africa where I got kidnapped. These men come on another truck with a lot of guns,” she told Ant Middleton from Straight Talking.

When asked by Middleton if the men had pulled up their car alongside the car Wilson was in, she said: “Yeah, with the big guns, and were like, ‘You’ve got to get off your truck.’ They took us to this house in the middle of nowhere.”

Rebel told her friends to link arms to stop the men from taking one of them in the night but none of them were harmed.

“They sat us down. I said, ‘Everybody link arms. I’m petrified in the night they might want to take one of the girls or something. Luckily, we weren’t harmed.”

The group was then released the next morning but the actress assumed they had used the girls to smuggled contraband across the border.

“They came and said, ‘Oh, your truck is ready now you can go – go, go,’ you know. So we just didn’t ask any questions, we got back on that truck and just got back out of there and then crossed the South African border a few hours later. I think maybe those guys used us to smuggle illegal things in the bottom of the truck.”

The interview

According to Sky News, Middleton interviewed Wilson in Mexico where the actress has spent vacations with her boyfriend Jacob Busch and her sister, Annachi.

Wilson shared several photos of herself and Busch while they enjoyed their Mexican getaway.

Her love life

The actress went public with her relationship with Busch in September by sharing a sweet photo of the two boarding a helicopter alongside Helen Mirren and Kate Beckinsale. The couple made their red carpet debut shortly after when they attended the Monte-Carlo Gala For Planetary Health in Monaco.

“This is the first guy she’s met who is a match for her humour and personality. Someone who has his own life and success and isn’t intimidated by her,” a source told People last year. “He’s entrepreneurial and they’re both very business-minded.”
