Starting the day on 187/4, the Proteas were dismissed for 245, setting Pakistan 88 runs for victory in their second innings.

Although the Proteas showing fighting spirit, the home side reached their target for the loss of three wickets, handing the home side a morale-boosting seven-wicket win.

South Africa are touring Pakistan for the first time in 14 years.

The second and final Test starts on Thursday, February 4 in Rawalpindi.
