Barry’s Sweetcorn Fritters – A braai side to keep you on the good side

A braai isn’t just about the juicy meat on the fire, or even the hungry crowd circling the flames but the delicious sides made by the host and their friends. When it’s your turn to make some sides for a braai, be sure to try out this fritter recipe. Barry’s Sweetcorn Fritters are easy to make and will be an absolute crowd-pleaser.

All that you need to do when preparing Barry’s Sweetcorn Fritters is put all of the ingredients in a bowl, mix them together and shallow-fry them in some vegetable or seed oil. These sweetcorn fritters are light, fluffy and golden brown and will make a perfect post on social media too. However, you’re more than welcome to add some of your own creativity with these sweetcorn fritters. Add some fresh herbs or spring onion. Add a bowl of tzatziki or other creamy dipping sauce and you’ve got a winner on a plate.

Barry’s Sweetcorn Fritters Recipe

    Ingredients

    • 5 ml baking powder

    • 1 can sweetcorn

    • 1 cup flour

    • 1 whole egg

    • salt & pepper to taste

    • 1 wheel feta cheese

    Method

    • Mix together all the ingredients, shape into fritters and pan-fry in hot oil until golden.
    • Drain on kitchen paper and serve.
