Siya Kolisi out of WP v Cheetahs after contact with Covid-19 positive person

Captain Siya Kolisi will miss Western Province’s Currie Cup match against the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein next Saturday.

KOLISI WAS A LAST-MINUTE WITHDRAWAL ON BOXING DAY

Kolisi was an 11th-hour withdrawal from the WP team for their Boxing Day clash against Griquas at Newlands after coming into contact with someone who tested positive for Covid-19.

‘We found out late on Friday,’ said WP coach John Dobson.

‘He will have to isolate for 10 days.’

Kolisi was replaced by Jaco Coetzee who put in a commendable performance.

WP MOVED TO SECOND PLACE IN THE STANDINGS

WP’s 34-17 bonus-point win against Griquas saw them move to second place in the Currie Cup log.

However, the Sharks can reclaim second spot if they beat the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein on Sunday .

Kick-off is at 16:30.
