1912 | Prime Minister of South Africa Louis Botha resigned because he did not agree with the pro-British policies of J.B.M. Hertzog, minister of justice.

1961 | Tanganyika, now called Tanzania, became a United Nations (UN) member. 

1977 | Egyptian and Israeli negotiators had a meeting in Cairo to discuss a peace settlement between the two countries. 

2002 | 15 people survived when a boat carrying close to 200 people overturned in Robersport, Liberia because it carried twice the number of people it was supposed to.
