According to Sunday WorldKhumalo purchased the luxury SUV back in 2017 however, she has not fulfilled her instalment payments.

“Sunday World can exclusively reveal that Nedbank’s vehicle finance wing, Motor Finance Corporation (MFC), has filed papers in the Joburg High Court for a default judgment against the songbird after she defaulted on payment for her luxury Porche Cayenne TipTronic vehicle.

“According to the papers in the publication’s possession, Khumalo got a loan of about R500 000 to buy the 2011 model road monster on 24 March 2017. Khumalo was supposed to pay just under R10 000 in monthly instalments, excluding insurance, until 4 April 2023. But the  musician defaulted on her instalments and was more than R62 000 in arrears as of 10 July.”

As it stands, Khumalo did not respond to a letter demanding that she settle the arrears to keep her account up to date and therefore, the bank cancelled the sale agreement on 20 August. Sunday World did reportedly reach out to Khumalo for comment but she ignored their phone calls and text messages.

A bombshell document

This latest story of Khumalo comes off the back of a dramatic ending to the month of October which saw her trending on social media in connection with the Senzo Meyiwa murder. At the time, The South African reported that a charge sheet, accidentally leaked to the press, revealed that the police now have Khumalo listed as somebody who will need to be investigated further.

The bombshell document claimed that Khumalo should be proved over claims that a lender gave her money ‘to pay for a hitman’. The authorities also sat they need to obtain a statement from the person accused of granting her a loan. Furthermore, the investigating officers have highlighted their concerns over Khumalo’s cell phone records – which indicate she was in contact with the accused who appeared in court on Tuesday. The killing took place at the singer’s mother’s house, and she has rejected all allegations made against her in the past six years.

“Cell phone records of Ms Kelly Khumalo indicating her communication with the accused must be obtained, as previously indicated. It was previously mentioned that there was a lender who advanced money to Kelly Khumalo, ostensibly to pay hitmen, and that this lender was pestering her for the repayment of this loan. The lender’ statement must be obtained.”

KHUMALO’S LAWYER CLAIMS SHE DOES NOT KNOW MEYIWA SUSPECTS

Khumalo’s lawyer Magdalene Moonsamy later said in an interview with eNCA that client does not know anyone of the five accused that appeared in court for the murder of her former partner.

When eNCA reporter Pule Letshwiti asked Moonsamy if Khumalo knows any of the suspects who have been arrested, she said; “absolutely not” twice.

“The investigation, the statements, the events that unfolded have been thoroughly analysed by the police over the years but there is no knowledge of the five individuals,” she said.

“There is also the creation of fear and intimidation or imminent threats,” she said.
