The impressive new Huawei P Smart 2021 to release in South Africa on 7 November

Similar to the Huawei P40 series, the P Smart 2021 will feature HMS and the AppGallery, packed with a wealth of global and localised apps. Additionally, it runs EMUI 10.1, providing a seamless experience.

Baked into the lastest version of EMUI is the MeeTime’s video and voice calling, while my favourite feature is the real-time screen sharing.

This alone might be worth switching to a Huawei device if, like me, you often spend large chunks of your life trying to help family members with navigating their phones.

Huawei P Smart 2021 highlights

Long-lasting battery and SuperCharge

The Huawei P Smart 2021 model runs on a 5 000 mAh battery coupled with a battery manager which supports Huawei’s AI Power Saving technology.

Eight optimisation solutions based on software and hardware consumption are available to improve battery usage. It can even detect and address abnormal battery usage automatically.

Furthermore, the P Smart 2021 supports Huawei 22.5W SuperCharge; a nifty feature that can take you from zero to two hours worth of video-playing battery life with just 10 minutes of charging.

Camera

One area where Huawei has consistently raised the bar has been in its camera offerings. The Huawei P Smart 2021 certainly isn’t an exception and lives up to the company’s standard.

The smartphone comes equipped with a Quad AI Camera made up of a 48MP primary lens, an 8MP 120-degree ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2MP Macro lens and a 2MP Depth Camera.

Huawei’s cameras excel when it comes to low light photography. The latest P Smart 2021 uses its 48MP sensor and an AI-assisted multi-frame noise reduction technology to produce stunningly detailed photos even in low light conditions.

The Huawei P Smart 2021 also comes equipped with an 8MP front-facing selfie camera. The camera can detect low light conditions and will automatically use the circular flash to provide soft lighting when needed.

This, along with the usual Huawei AI-assisted image processing, will ensure your selfies look perfect time after time.

Storage

It’s not only the battery life that will provide hours of entertainment. The P Smart 2021 has generous built-in storage of up to 128 GB. That means you can play games, take photos and watch videos for hours without interruption.

If that isn’t enough, the device also supports expanded storage of up to 512 GB when you use an external memory card.

Performance

While storage is essential, we all know the most important thing we’re looking for in a smartphone is the performance when running all those apps that we rely on every day.

No need to fret. Huawei equipped the P Smart 2021 with a Kirin 710A and 4GB LPDDR4X RAM (short for Low-Power Double Data Rate x4 Random Access Memory).

This will enable you to run multiple apps at the same time, smoothly and without a hitch.

Appearance and design

The P Smart 2021 is designed for people on the go, at once powerful and stylish. The no-nonsense design is clean and instantly recognisable as part of the Hauwei stable.

The devices will be available in South Africa in two different colours: Blush Gold and Midnight Black. The “young and powerful” device seamlessly combines practicality with distinctive styling.

“The P Smart 2021 series is in pursuit of fashion and takes a step further to elevate the fashion elements. It uses nature-inspired colour tones and is manufactured with a complicated nano-coating process.”

Display and resolution

Huawei opted for an awe-inspiring display which gives the Huawei P Smart 2021 a large 6.67-inch screen. The screen is not just about size, though.

The generous display can run at 2400 x 1080 FHD+ (Full High Definition Plus) and provides crisp, clear quality, thanks to the 394 PPI (Pixels Per Inch). Browse your gallery, watch movies and browse the web with ease.

To combat eye strain, Huawei included effective blue light filtering through a low blue light TUV Rheinland-certified Eye Comfort mode which reduces eye strain, especially if you’ll be using the device for long periods of time.

The Huawei P Smart 2021 will be available from Vodacom and Cell C in South Africa on 7 November 2020; adding yet another capable and innovative smartphone as an option to users who want a device that will run everything, take exceptional photos and last all day.
