Cherry Liqueur Cream Meringue – Summer got here with a kick

It’s summertime in South Africa, fruit season is here as well as the need for light and fresh treats. However, you wouldn’t want to stand around all day making these treats, would you? This Cherry Liqueur Cream Meringue recipe is both of those things and it even has a little alcoholic kick to it.

Visit your local bakery or grocery store to find some meringue cups which cuts down on a lot of cooking time. Meringue dessert is always a great treat and meringue is so versatile and adding fruit adds a taste of summer. This recipe contains kiwi and black cherries but you are more than welcome to use any fruit our heart desires. It also has a nice kick from the cream liqueur inside the cream filling. So it is definitely a great dessert for adults only events and dinner parties. But you can be as creative as you want and leave out the alcohol and add anything you want to.

Ingredients

  • 6 ready-made meringue nests

  • 300 ml fresh cream

  • 15 ml cherry liqueur

  • 1 tin black cherries

  • kiwi fruit

  • flaked chocolate

Method

  • Beat the cream lightly. Add the liqueur.
  • Pour the cream into a piping bag. Fill the meringue.
  • Garnish with cherries, fruit and chocolate.
